Officially a Yaker

Finally bit the bullet and am in the process of buying a pescador 12 from academy. Almost like buying a gun with the amount of paperwork that they fill out. Scupper plugs are nowhere to be found so sales guy is robbing from another yak right now.

Pescador 12 is $499 + tax at academy with one flush mount rod holder.
They are no different than regular boats, "the devil is in the details"! Paddles, anchors, lights, mounts, ect. add up to major $$$ when it is all said and done. Cool thing about the Pescador is it is set up for a rudder if you want to drop another $300.

Been looking at a few yaks myself. As soon as I sell my boat I'll be getting one and I've been looking hard at this same one.

weedeater 05-15-2011 10:26 AM

anyone tried the native ultimate 12ft or 14ft with the open top, looks like it would work to fish or hunt and the 14ft can go solo or tandem

ultimates are good marsh and calm water yaks. i can see hunting out of one...never did though. i had a 12 and have fished in a 14. since they don't self bail you can get in trouble in the rough stuff and i know several who have.
