i am new to offshore fishing looking for any advice where to fish when to fish what bait to use how to rig. i really dont know anything about offshore i am mostly interested in dorado (dolphin fish) i have robalo 2120 with honda 200 not sure how far out i can go either i think a safe range is about 60 miles out i would usually fish out of cameron

Find a rip or grass mat. And chum with sardines.
If you can't find them troll with something very loud and flashy along the rip and when you stop reel it in. Usually chicken dolphin will follow it to your boat. Then start chumming to get them in a frenzy and it's on

Once they are in a frenzy you can catch them on just the hook key is when fishing for them

Let them hit it and turn their head.
As soon as they turn their head start reeling. Do not jerk

My uncle flew out to west cam block the other day and saw a great grass mat at 50 miles.
People in the area said some nice bull dolphin were in the area

Pogies at the rigs seemed to do the trick when I went with Dink. I'm no expert but, that's all the darn pogies seemed to wanna catch!

Normally anything you drop down they will eat or try to. anything that you catch cut it up into nice chunks and drop it down. You will know real quick if they are at that rig or not.

Yeah. Any fish on a hook. Drop down and you will know. We have been finding them a few hundred feet away from the rigs on a 90 degree angle from the current.

If you have a sounder you can see them. Usually been in 20-30 ft depths in at least 50 ft of water
