Big Lake 7-2
 

Well...in town for the 4th and in need of a fishing trip, the weather finally cooperated. Hit the lake with a buddy of mine from Tennesse and went looking for some action. Found an awesome Red bite in West Cove. We were getting slamed literally as soon as the bait hit the water. That lasted about 15 minutes and we picked up 12 and ended with 4 keepers along with a flounder.

After working the banks we ran to a reef and picked up around 30 trout w/ 15 keepers. (There were a few sandies caught too) On the way in I decided to see if we could get on some chunks so made a pit stop and on the 3rd cast pulled in a 3. Next thing I know...I look on the side of the bow and I see a fat azz trout roll. I thought to myself...hell...that's not my bait...so I looked over in amazement to see if my buddy had seen what i just witnessed. Little did I know he had hooked her and she made a slow run for the boat. There was little fight b/c I had net in hand in a jiffy. Put her on the scale for a solid 6.3 lbs. Right after netting the fish I looked up and saw lightning south east of Heberts. Been there done that and I wasn't trying to jack around with mother nature.... no matter how bad I wanted to stay and see if more sows were around (had just seen another roll and 2 slicks pop up ....so I knew they were in there).

All in all it was a great/HOT day on the lake with a good friend. Can't wait til next Saturday to get back out there.

Forgot to mention so I don't look like a trout killer....she swallowed the sand eel all the way ....could only see the tip of the chartreusse tail...she was done.
