Fresh or Dead

Friend is coming over tomorrow morning and wants gafftop and sheephead. Which is better, froze or fresh skrimps for these species and why?? Where should we start and will 50# PP be heavy enough line??

Thanks

Dead shrimp and cut mullet for dem gafftops, they seem to love that. Ive only caught one sheeps head and it was a 2in dead pogey that I dropped in front of its face. Is your friend from texas or mississippi

Raymond 08-03-2011 09:14 PM

What do y'all consider trophy length on both species we are looking for record setting fish?

cajunforeman 08-03-2011 09:40 PM

You always gotta stir the pot!!

jchief 08-03-2011 09:42 PM

Okay, for gaftop, live or dead. For sheepshead, live is much better.

Fly fisherman consider a sheephead a Louisiana permit. They hardly ever eat an artificial.
