first trip bow fishing

I gpt an invite wednesday night to go bow fishing. It was my first time bow fishing as well as the "first" time for me to shoot a bow outside of the occasional summer camp. We targeted gar in black bayou, and I missed a lot of fish! It takes some getting used to. We pulled in 5 total tonight, we shot at a lot more than that. Towards the end, managed to shoot one, what a rush! Nothing big, but I thought it was an accomplishment.

All in all a fun evening. I wanna go back, wish we could have stayed out but such is life with work in the morning. At least its friday.

Last night was my first time to shoot at something alive. I had tried to shoot my dads compound bow a few years back but only shot maybe 10 arrows my whole life before last night. Its fun stuff. Spotlight to find em, short window to shoot. Its a blast.

We were just talking about this at work yesterday. Getting a few guys and making a trip.

:D sorry for the derail, last post, but I didnt get to reply to his ludacris remark last night!
On another note, One of the best bowfisherman I know had never shot a bow a day in his life, before I showed him at age 19, and within 2 or 3 trips , he could shoot better than me, and I'm no slouch behind the stick and string. It takes a couple of trips to get the Depth percertion down pact, but once you can achieve that its cake!
Glad you enjoyed yourself, and keep going as much as youy can, and dont let the misses get you down accuracy comes with time and exp.;)
I can shoot the bottoms of coke cans all day long out to 60yds. but give me a20 inch redfish at 10 steps 1ft. under water, and I'm only a 50/50 shot, NAh! more like 40/60 reds to me!:grinpimp:

I used to shoot competition archery for Darton and when I was goin bowfishin they told me I would have a harder time pickin it up b/c I was taught to shoot directly at what im aiming at.Guys with NO experience could pick it up easier! As far as the gar you shot, thats a good shot! Seems to me like thats more of an accomplishment than a big one! A smaller ones harder to hit

Gotta love that bow fishing. I go every chance I get. I can promise I miss a whole lot more than I hit.
