Ship Channel

We got on the water at 6 this morning and went to the heymark which is normally pretty good for me, could not get anything to hit on plastic, switched to live shrimp, caught a couple of huge Gaftops. Water was muddy, but I hung in hoping for something to happen. Finally made the move to the ship channel, got 2 flounder, 3 Specks and one nice Red. I need to learn to move sooner if nothing is happening on one area.

Seems that this is my pattern, find a place that worked last time and go there hoping for same results, finally move and find some fish.

Fish have fins and move. They also have patterns. It's very hard to pattern fish if you don't fish everyday. Try to remember the conditions that day; tide, water clarity, etc. From there, try to find similar scenarios as the last trip and find fish. Sometimes I am run and gun all day. Other times, especially reef fishing, I may sit on that reef and catch a limit.

I can see that, we learn a little more on every trip, still having fun doing it. Cant wait until the fall when the birds start working.

Well I guess I need to try some afternoon trips instead of some of these early morning ones. Thanks Paul.
