Worse case scenario has happened need help

Well about 3 weeks ago I accepted a job which would require me to live away from home a few days a week. I put in my two week notice and signed up for an appt. I got a call today from the hr lady saying some things have happend and they have decided to withdraw there offer, my last day was supposed to be tomorrow and start work on Thursday :pissed:. Now my current job has said I can stay but they have already hired my position out and can only stay for two weeks. So if anybody knows of anything I will do whatever where ever. I have an assoc. degree in petrochemical technology, I can drive just about any kind of equipment, not scared of hard work and labor just need something.

Ask the new company for severance. That is not out of the question in a situation like this. I would ask for at least 2 months pay and accept 2 weeks.

Now that's messed up. Best wishes to you.

I never give a two week notice, maybe not the right thing to do but look what happened here. I give a Two day notice, I quit Today. Fawk em they wouldn't give you a notice if they were firing you. Check out the Quick Quarter qqclassifieds.com they always have jobs in there from exotic dancers to engineers and everything inbetween. Also check out Rigzone.com

I will be sending you a link tonight to a site. It should do you good. It's for either kbr or lanxess jobs. I'll get it to you in a bit

I would seek out a labor/employment attorney. I don't claim to know much about employment law but a contract is a contract...they owe you something here.

damn man hate to hear this good luck

If I understand the laws correctly(that ruling has yet to come in!), due to right to work laws, there isn't much you can do about it.

This happened to ne on numerous occasions when I worked turnarounds. We just called it gambling on life and mortgages.

Most places don't require a lot of experience as operators, they will train you if you have a degree. Citgo is a pretty good place to work.

Lanxess.com

Lanxess has operators, kbr doesn't hire operators.
