Grand Isle fishing (9/10-11)

I am going fishing in grand isle next weekend, and I really want to catch some on top water. I went weekend before last and ran into the "too clear" water and didnt catch much at all.

I also want to get into some good reds..

where should i go to catch some good topwater action and where should i go for some reds?

Thanks for all the help.

With the North wind that will be blowing all week things are going to change in a big way in G.I.. All the high water that we have now should be gone by the time you get there and the water will probably be muddy .
If you can find mullet in the surf or birds feeding, fish them hard. IF you can find clear or semi clear water fish it .

Heard Hwy 1 is now open down there again.

W/ it clear as it is and high skies ,if it stays the same for the weekend throw a skitterwalk or top pup in chrome or bright colors.
I wouldn't stick w/ the tw long unless you are getting bit.

The beaches side will have clean water

They killed the redfish Mon and Tues with the hard falling tides

Thanks, y'all wouldn't happen to know if bridgeside will have live shrimp would y'all. I know 2 weeks ago I went and they didn't have any at all that day. Are they getting shrimp normally or not.

Called Buggy and yes they normally have them. If it's a weekend they sell out early.
If the weathers bad the night b4 his boats may not be able to get out and trawl so
no liveies.
If it's a fri or sat be in line b4 they open and if they have them you'll get bait.
Seen them sell out by 6:30 - 7:00 a few times. Also have carmadells ,sand dollar and a few other places that sell live shrimp .

... or bring your castnet and catch your own off the side of the road. Marsh should be full of white shrimp right now.

Sounds great. I'll be there early Saturday morning in line to be sure to get some shrimp. Just to be sure. Are there any more successful top water colors that y'all have experienced. I will start out on topeater in the morning along the beach to see what I can get

jjenk321 09-11-2011 05:19 PM

thanks guys it was a success i would say. we ended up with about 12 trout and 3 reds fun day.

when the weather changes where would be good spots to go. i know the fish move in when the weather gets cold.

I'll make you a deal, You take me w/ you when it gets cold and i'll show you at least 8 spots for wintertime trout and reds. One of which gave up a star winning trout in 2010. But leave the boat at home.
