10.11.11 Back on Big Lake!

I've been out of town for the last couple of weeks and I was so excited to get back on the lake today that I couldn't sleep last night. A friend and I headed out at daylight, for the most part to just run the lake to see where the fish were and where they weren't to get an idea of what's been going on while I was gone. We stayed in the lake today and managed to put a few decent fish in the box between all the boat runs. We caught fish on all different areas of the lake but just couldn't seem to get them to bunch up for us. We would just pick up a few here and there. The bite was very slow compared to how it was before I went out of town, but like I said we spent more time running from spot to spot than fishing today. We caught in the range of 30-35 specks total but kept just enough to have a little fish fry. We caught a TON of white trout. Not the quantity I expected today but overall, very good quality fish. We served them sparkle beetles in many different colors -glow, pink, chartreuse, clear, black....all the usuals, and we also caught a few on she dogs as well. It was a beautiful day to be on Big Lake!

Oh it wasn't a bad day whatsoever! I've had much worse lol. I just had my expectations set high since the fishing was so good when I left town. Not a bad day at all, just a little slower than expected. They made us work for them that's for sure. I forgot to mention that there were birds everywhere...we just decided to make it tougher on ourselves and didn't stop to fish any lol.
