Most pecan trees are alternate bearing, meaning a tree bears a relatively heavy crop of nuts one year and a lighter one the next.

I know some of the tree farms used to buy acorns by the lb.
contact LSU ag.
I can eat pecans and we use 10 - 15 lbs to make all the Christmas goodies every year so i'll pick them up and shell em to save $50 -$75.
