Prien 11/11/11

1 Attachment(s)
Fished Prien area and ship channel. Fish were in the channel again today. FIshed 20 to 30 ft. depths, with Marshworks popping cork and white TKO shrimp with chartruese tail. Caught better than 5 limits on this one lure. Starting to look ragged. Going to chunk it and put another one on. Them thangs are worth buying fo sho. Caught a limit in less than 2 hours. When I was on them alone, they hit. When another boat would pull in, they stopped. Fished the same spot, moved once then moved back. Fish on.
Look for shrimp popping on top of the water in the middle of the channel.
Didn't launch till after 9 am due to the cold. Sun shining, water clean. Great day to be on the water.
Only had to measure 1 Trout, zero throw backs.

pop pop chill pop pip pop bang.......fish on....

Ray 11-11-2011 04:26 PM

I pop it and let sit for about 5 or 6 seconds.
Normally I pop faster, but it don't work right now.
Pop, count to 5, pop. Don't take your eye off the
cork. I lose a few looking around every time I fish.
As soon as you turn back, the cork is gone but
pops back up before you can set the hook.
And stop your boat long before you get to the spot
you wanna fish, then ease in using trolling motor.
Don't run to a spot and stop big motor and think you
are gonna catch right away.

Thanks buddy. One of my problems is I wait till after it comes back up to set the hook. How deep do you fish it?

Usually a 1.5 ft to 2 ft.
As soon as it goes down, Bam. Set it.

impressed

I'm new to this website and must say you'll sure seem to be the most co-operative sportsman on the web. I would have to say I have found a new place to hang my hat. Really enjoy the converstions on here and the willingness to help fellow outdoorsman! I normally fish the Vermillion Bay area and ocasionally fish Big Lake. Tight lines and hope to see you on the water.
