Cookin' Coon?

Anybody ever tried it? My buddy gave me some meat and I want to cook it tonight, but have never done it before. I figure it's like a rabbit so I'm thinking about pot roasting it. What do y'all think?

Boil the meat about 30 min or so depending on the size of the coon ! I use crab boil for seasoning, once that's done I dedone the meat and brown it up to make a great rice and gravy !

this way or smoke and put in gumbo

Both sounds good, but I won't have time to smoke it. Now hopefully I can make the ol' lady think it's rabbit!! I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

Bake it in the oven. Put in roaster with carrots, celery, onions, and sweet taters. Remember to remove all the musk glands.

I hear that if you don't get all of those glands out it will be ruined. How do you know if you have removed all of them?

even if you pot roast put some sweet taters in there forgot about that.

Pooo Yie!!!! Y'all got some good ideas. How can I tell if all the glands are out before I cook it and stink up the neighborhood?

DUCKGOGETTER 11-18-2011 02:52 PM

Next time you get some take the time to lightly smoke them and put in gumbo. Best gumbo you can eat.
