Is it illegal to ride in a boat with waders on in Louisiana?

Not that I'm aware of

I would not think so. If you are worried about falling overboard with them I would encourage you to go to a pool and jump in with them. I did it a couple of years ago and was amazed at how well I was able to swim. They actually make you more bouyant "sp?".

Wear a life jacket

I have worn hip boots for 20 years while in a boat. Never got popped.
Same with waders. I have seen game wardens do the same.
Where I hunted at, only way you could drown is if you got knocked out.
Water was very very shallow.

Some people I know was freaking out when they seen I was wearing neopreme waders while riding areound in my boat duck hunting. I wear them like that all the time and they said I was gonna get a ticket.

Not illegal

This is true, talk to anyone that has gone to water survival schools in order to work in the gulf. Any article of clothing, rubber or otherwise that you throw in the pool that floats will make you more boyant. The main cause of drowning is freaking out trying to remove boots or other articles in fear of being weighted down, stay calm everything you're wearing will help you float.

if that was the case our WL&F would be rich on Texans on BIG LAKE..........I think all they have to wear is Waders

The water going in your boot weighs the same as the water on the outside so it will not sink any faster. Once in the water there is a good chance you will not be able remove your boots because of the suction. Best thing to do is remain calm. If you want to swim you will not have a problem doing so.

As far as a law against wearing waders, there is none.

Once the boots fill completely with water I wouldnt think there would be a problem getting them off.
