Duck Limit Question
From what I understand the duck limit is per person per gun. But is there a minimum age that can claim a limit? I know this has been discussed but I just want to make sure.
|
I wouldn't try and claim a limit for a young child if its not believable that he or she couldn't have done it themselves.

5 years old. Not sure if he could do it by himself but if I sat behind him and gave him support he could aim and pull the trigger on a duck on the water.

Educate your 5 year old! I had a buddy of mine get a ticket for having his limit and his young sons limit. The game warden told the kid to show him the ducks he killed.

Let them land and let him pop his limit. When I was that age I had a crack barrel 410 and my dad taught me gun safety really young. I knew to only put the gun up and shoot if I was told. If they didn't land he woukd shoot one or two, if they hit the pond it was all me
To answer your question, no minimum age. As the other guys said, it better be believable |
Most 5 year olds cannot tell a game warden which ducks he killed.
If he killed 2 Gray's and 1 Pintail hen, I bet he couldn't tell anyone what ducks are what. I don't think that one would stand in court. He will need to keep his ducks on a different strap. Then ie will be more believable. I don't like shooting on the water since steel shot came out. You can cover a duck with bb's and they get up and fly off, then fall about 1/4 mile away. Steel shot sux for on the water shots. |
After you get your 6. Sit back back and let him try to get his 6. If he doesn't you still win. If he likes it enough he will take you when you are old and can't walk to blind on your own. And he might let you shoot your 6 then. What comes around goes around.

Limits are per person. If he does not kill them he cannot claim them. Home run has the best advise.
|
You can shoot 6 ducks per person. Age doesn't matter, if he was 3 years old and shot 6 ducks by himself, then that is ok, but If you and your 5 year old kid come out with more than 6 ducks and he did not shoot any of them, then....
