maps
are hook and line maps the most accurate map to use for a new bee to big lake.?

Yep. I wouldn't trust the depths on the chart, but everything else is probably pretty close.

Very good map to show you around but as Ray said don't trust the depth marking.

I wouldn't trust any maps "depth"..... But for general " you are here" & " this spot is here" yea maps are good.
Land in Louisiana changes fast... The bottom changes too.

One thing for a new person on Big Lake to watch out for is the "Old Jetty" down in the south west part of the lake. This old rock jetty runs for ~ 2 miles from the southwest part of the lake out towards the ENE. It has gotten to where ~ 1/2 of the rocks are now just under the water. DON"T try to cross this old jetty.

Angling Technologies is a good site to look at for updated satellite maps, either you can register or just go to online interactive maps and look for free and if you have a phone with big screen you can look at in on the water.
