Fuel problem
 

Has anyone ever had a problem with fuel filters getting gelled up? I had some fuel that was treated with sea foam and added some with stabil marine formula and was wondering if the mixture of sea foam and stabil was causing my problem.

It started when I added the fuel I had treated with the stabil, so I thought it was the the crossing of the two products. I am going to pull all the fuel out of my tank and start from scratch.

I have mixed the two before without any problems. I agree with D you must have some sort of algae in your tank .

I was at lunch with my wife and saw that. I wanted to say put Claritin D in the tank and my wife wanted to know if it was sneezing.

I have seen diesel gel up, but not gas...

I've heard of ethanol turning fuel filters to mush, sea foam has alot of alcohol in it could be the problem.

It just gels on the "red top" filter on the fuel canister of a 225 Optimax at the side of the motor. I have seen diesel do this also but never gas, so I am thinking David may be right about the "allergy":churn::churn::churn:.


According to the email that the manufacturer of sea foam sent me back, it is a "petroleum blend" and it should not affect my filters in the way I described.
