Duck number totals

Finished the season with 915 ducks and 13 specks. 343 ducks were mallards. hunted 59 days in my blind south of the intercoastal on the east side of grandlake. how did everyone else do and what general area were you hunting?

Duck count

We killed nearly 300 ducks in Grand Chenier hunting mainly 2 blinds. No geese which is the norm for us. The duck count was at least half what we normally kill, but doing the camp thing was still just as much fun as when we kill lots of birds.

38. Deridder creek banks. All wood ducks

X2 had about the same season in pecan island. About 300 birds. Usually kill twice that. Killed about 120 teal during teal season too.

noodle creek has the spot!!! ended up not bad with a camp total rounding up around 700 ducks and about 170 specks.. not a bad season considering with the typical louisiana weather...

the last two weeks killed me. weather wayy too warm

fullrutt 01-23-2012 08:46 AM

We are in Vidalia we have a few days left with some hunts on the books but its slowed down the last week. As of yesterday we had 1425 ducks and 376 geese.. We had a really good crop of fields of flooded corn, milo, millet, and beans... The timber was hot and heavy with greys.. I'm glad it's almost over

MKBord 01-23-2012 09:51 AM

We are between Kaplan and Gueydan. Totals 1218 ducks and 90 specks. Lots of Greys.

BIRD DOG 01-23-2012 12:35 PM

482 birds, all WMA's.I have a lease in Lafitte and never even went! Almost all greys with the occasional Mallard,Pintail, and Wigeons. No teal at all,not sure whats up with that.We had a phenomenal year!!

It's a club where the owners just rotate several 2 day hunts throughout the season so we don't actually get to sell any hunts

Gottogo49 01-24-2012 12:21 AM

I killed around 30 ducks on about 10 hunts from Johnson Bayou to Thornwell. Mostly on invites from buddies. Hunted Lacassine, Cameron Prairie, and Sabine Refuges but only killed one duck from the refuges. I could have hunted more but the fishing was too good. Killed about 40 doves on 5 hunts. Dove hunting was much easier and more productive for me.

duckfreak 01-24-2012 06:31 AM

Myself and my two boys finished with 173 birds, hunting only weekends on public WMA. The last 3 weeks were horrible due to weather conditions. Was a good year by our standards.

Good thing about it is that I didn't have to use any gas to get too and from my hunting spots. Just a 100 yard walk

It's 2 families out of Shreveport isn't it? I heard that place is awesome. I got a buddy of mine that hunts there a couple times a year. You killing alot of mallards for down here. Hold on to that blind man.

noodle creek 01-24-2012 03:38 PM

Yeah the owners are all from shreveport. reason i posted this thread is because this year was my last year since i am graduating this spring. i wanted to know what areas did well so i can try to lease a blind in a good area. gonna miss hunting out there
