Trolling motor decisions

We have an old motor guide great white is about a 2000 year model with maybe 40 lb thrust and is on it's last leg am wondering what'd be a good trolling motor for an 18' aluminum boat that's 3/16" bottom and 1/8" sides am thinking a 55 lb would do an ok job with only a 12 or 24 v system

spend the money get the biggest you can, I had a 67ld on a 15ft boat a few years ago, it was worth it. I'd get an 80ld. thats just me. either way a MG great white is gonna cost some moolah!

55 would do good, 70 would do great but 80 would be tha shiz!

Yep, what Capt. Shaw said.
70lb is probably all you need, but you would never, ever regret buying the 80lb.

let me know when you are ready to order may be able to sweeten a little deal up for you

If you are considering the 24v setup, these guys are right. You wouldnt regret the 80#

Make it a MinnKota Rip Tide on what ever model you get.

I put a 55 minnkota on my 20' prodrive rig. It will just about get the boat on step. I found it at cableas in gonzales in the bargan cave. I think I gave 275 for it. no box but it did not look like it was ever used.

I'll let you know what's up when the time is right I just started new job so the new truck might be before the trolling motor but that 70 lb sounds like a nice good price and the power for windy days. The one now have changed the speed control switch least 7 times since had it barely keeps up on 5 mph wind
