EcoBoost or 5.0 engine? Ordering a new F-150 but do not know anyone that has pulled boat, camper etc. with new ecoboost motor. Anyone has one? Will it pull better than the old 5.4L?

got the 5.0...buddy blew tranny pulling a boat with the eco...only few hp diff and milege diff...def get the 5.0

IT's the same transmission.
Eco has lot more touque.

Sisters godfather has the ecoboost. He pulls a 34 ft bumper pulled camper with no problems.
He went from the 5.4L to the Ecoboost.

Dang, that thing does have a lot of torque.

deff eco boost. look up specs on both motors. ecoboost makes more torque than the v8's and it makes it at low rpms. perfect for pulling. only 8 ford has that makes more torque is the 6.2 and thats a gas guzzler.

Several guys I work with have the ecoboost and they are very happy with the motor. I think one has a big tractor he pulls with it and he likes the way it pulls.

i have the 5.0 and am very happy with it. Ecoboost is a good motor and all of its advantages are on the bottom end. When you get that boat (or whatever) up to speed on the interstate you still have a v6.

Have you driven the Ecoboost yet? I don't think you will have that opinion if you did.

My boat mechanic has the EcoBoost and loves it. Says it tows very well. I never been a Ford man but just got a new F250 few months ago and love it.

very very far from the truth. eccoboost makes 420lb-ft at 2500rpms. 5.0 makes 360ft-lb at 5500 rpms. ever look at your rpm gauge while going down the hwy? you might being running 2100 at 70mph. think about how much torque the 5.0 is putting out at 2100rpm if its only making 360 at 5500????

I have the ecoboost and love it. I don't pull anything to big but it's nice while driving to Hackberry going 55 to 60 getting about 25 miles to the gallon. Just drive it, heck make them let you go pull something with it.

The 373 rear end can pull 11,500 lbs.
The 315 rear end can pull 8,500 lbs.

That is plenty for a 1/2 ton truck.

um, no its not. my statement is from the ford techs at the dealer I bought mine from. not knocking the motor. The turbo charger doesnt give constant boost throughout the entire rpm range. it does its best work in the lower end and then its help falls off (look at the horsepower graphs, im not making this crap up). yes it has lots of power and pulls fine BUT when you get to the top and are at crusing speed with that load the turbo is no longer a factor and you have a V6. can you kcik it down a few gears and make the turbo a factor again, YES. my statement is very much the truth, try again

the power bands in teh 2 motors are very different although the numbers are pretty close. the difference maker in the mileage is when you get on top at cruising speed because you have 6 cylinders burning fuel and not 8

You can't make the people who own them believe that.
The turbos don't not fall off when pulling a load.
They may when not at cruise and unloaded, but when pulling, they stay spooled up.

let me rephrase that. its power advantages are on the bottom, mileage at the top

you do a little research then you try again. look at fords website.http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/

it may or may not give boost at say 5000 rpms but who pulls a load down the hwy at 5000 rpms? all your pulling is between 2 and 2500 on a gas motor right where the eccoboost is putting out 420 torques.

I still don't agree, but I haven't ran a 5.0L.
I have ran the Ecoboost, and the power does not fall off at highway speeds when pulling a boat.
If you are pulling a boat and step on it, it runs just as good as any small block V-8.
