Please Help Me

I am trying to locate a decent duck hunting lease. For the past few seasons I have paid GOOD money for POOR results. I am willing to travel up to 3 hrs from Lafayette for good duck hunting. I want a private lease not a guided hunting situation. Does any one have something to offer.

Sounds like youre looking for something everyone is looking for.

Please give me your definition of "Good Money" since everyone's definition is different. What are your expectations of a worthwhile duck lease; ease of use, # of birds killed, type of birds killed, ect.? What is your experience level hunting wise and do you have gear;boat/4wheeler/decoys? Do you prefer rice field or marsh?

All of these questions need to be answered in order for the SaltyCajun family to start giving recommendations. I'll break the rule and tell you that single blinds in good locations run $5,000 or more. Renting a rice field blind is always a crap shoot and tend to get shot out fast but they are easy to get to and hunt without much gear. Marsh blinds depending on location can be easy or hard to hunt but generally offer more consistant shooting through the season. The trade off is the expense of boats, maintence, ect.

Glad you found us and look forward to helping you out.

Raymond summed it up. I'll reiterate, if you want to shoot ducks consistently, get a marsh blind

First rule of a good lease is stay away from a classified ad if they have to advertise it's not good.

60'000 for 3 blinds in Lake Arthur (rice fields) package deal...have to lease the whole farm

That's not necessarily true. We leased a blind about 8 years ago out of the LC American Press. It is a great blind and we have killed piles of geese out of it. We just subbed it out last year to offset the cost of another blind in another area. If the guy doesn't renew the lease from my dad, I will probably pick it up for next year

You are right a good one will pop up every once in a while but the majority of the ones that are advertised are pretty much crap. So unless you're really familiar with the area it is usually a good idea to steer clear
