Apartments in Lafyette

Does anyone know of some good apartments in lafyette? I'll be moving there in June and want a good place to stay. The thing I'm most concerned about will be safety. There will be a few nights where I won't be home, and I will want to know my old lady is safe. Anyone from that area have any input?

You still have the number I gave you for my friend? When he first moved there he lived in a nice gated apartment off of Kaliste not far from Johnson. May want to check with him on that.

Got a $ amount in mind?

cmcnabb 02-14-2012 10:30 AM

Yea Cory I have his number still. I'll have to check with him.

Of course I want the cheapest place possible, but I know I'll have to pay for safety. I was just browsing for a little while the other night. The better stuff seemed to be in the $800 range. I know they had better stuff, but I would like to stay around $800

PM LaAngler. He's got a nice place here. Pays right around that.

Ok thanks. What about the areas just outside of lafeyette like duson? Any good places out there?

Maison Lafiette is a really good small complex (40) apts. I would ride my bike to UL which is less than a mile away. 1 bedroom is 500/mo not sure about a two bedroom. Very nice complex.

You looking for a 1 or 2 bedroom?

cmcnabb 02-14-2012 11:05 AM

1 bedroom

Stay looking on the south, and east side of lafayette. Once you get over past Scott towards Duson to the west you are in the country and it is ok. Stay out of plaza village neighborhood also and the apartments near guilbeau rd. Very heavy drug activity in those areas

Diamond Lakes is pretty nice and you should be able to get a 1 bedroom for that price. There are several just off of Congress such as Bayou shadows, Cantebury square, and Summer Place that are all affordable and pretty safe. They are not high end apartments but i lived in all of them while in Lafayette and never had any problems. They just dont like alot of loud music and partying which is why i had to move out of all of them:) This was 6 years ago so things may have changed.

There are several along Kalastie Saloon. I cant remeber the prices right off hand. Call them all Some gated complexes like Audobon Lakes will run leasing specials where you can get them for a really good deal. If you are familiar with Lake Charles. Country Club Pointe is owned by the same company so both of those complexes look the same almost to give you an idea.

Try The Crescent in River Ranch. Very safe, can walk to just about anywhere in the development. Stayed there for 6 months while my house was being built...enjoyed it. The newer apartments up front by Fresh market/Bone Fish are the Main Street Aprts. and condos. Very nice also...

The scenery in Bayou Shadows is real nice!!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm looking hard at chateau mirage. It's a little pricey but it's really not bad for as nice and secure it seems. I'm going to look at other options but I'm leaning towards chateau mirage

I could be wrong but i think Chateau Mirage is an old folks complex.

Take a look at Audubon Lakes on Kaliste Saloom Rd. its a little pricy but its is gated, I know a few people who live there and they all like it.

Chateau des Lions, Ansley Walk Apartment Homes, Peppertree Apartments are all really nice apartments in good areas. These are all in the 7-9 hundred a month range.

I used to live in Canterbuy Square Apartments it was around 600 a month its a good central location and safe as far as I could tell but it was not without a few suspicous people as neighbors. Maison Bauchage (sp) is right next to canterbuy Square and I would image that it is about the same.

In my senior year at UL, and in the first year of marriage we stayed at Wimbledon Apartment Complex. It is way out on the west side of W. Congress St., just west of the intersection of Rue du belier and Congress. It is isolated, which is what I liked. Didn't have any problems. It was cheap too. This was in 2005, so I don't know what the price is now. Then it was about $525/ 2 bedroom. One of the weather guys from Channel 10 used to live there. I used to always mess with him when I saw him; you know, harass him about his forecasts and what not. Good times and good luck.

Stay on the southside. Avoid the Northside. I know. I live on the Northside.

Look at Craigslist for Lafayette. Most of the apartment complexes advertise there every day.

i lived in audubon lakes for 3 years. i had a 2 bedroom and started out paying 850 and at the end i was down to 725. they run all kinds of specials and right now they have a bunch of vacancies so they are wanting to get them rented out. as far as safety i kept a boat and a utility trailer with my fourwheeler in the parking lot for almost 2 years and never had one problem and cant remember ever hearing anything about robbery or anything else. they have a lil pond in the middle and that thing is loaded with bass. me and my buddies used to bring back bass and brim and stock it. i know you said you have a woman but there is some nice looking chicks in that complex. they have a nice pool and workout room. only down side and the reason i moved is kalastie saloon traffic is horrible in the morning.
