Weed Eater Help

Weed eater quit running , bought a new carb installed it and it ran fine. However after about an hour of use it quit again . It will only idle if chocked and will not rev up. I also changed the suction hose and filter. It is an echo brand bought on 05.

Part B if it is shot Sthil or Echo for replacement ?:help:

If a hammer won't fix it, its an electrical problem.

Sound like the throttle linkage needs to be adjusted/set.

I have both Stihl and Echo. I prefer the Echo because it does not flood as easily.

If it'll run on choke & dies when fuel is added you still have a fuel problem. Sounds like trash in carb. Those carbs are so small it doesn't take much to screw em up.

I had a Stihl for 7 years, bought a Shindiawa & that thing is a beast!!!!

Also check the primer bulb, they'll get old crack & suck air.

HUSKAVAURNA....I have a husky trimmer and chainsaw for the past couple of years with 0 issues...My mom and dad have had so much trouble with there stihl (4 carbs) under warranty that they went to husky...my 2 cents if looking for a replacement.

I ain't done nuttin......
I am having similar issue with my blower which I have pulled carb apart and cleaned but it didn't help, I belive my issue is from putting ethonal gas in mine along with 8 yrs of heavy use. I run all Echo and have had good luck to this point except for this issue and that's with me cutting a lot of grass and abusing my equipment for 8 yrs along with having others use my equipment when working for me.

No I don't know weedeater or 1fastmerc but they seem like fun guys that don't mind gigging each other.

Is your exhaust plugged up ??? Fairly common to end up with a chunk of carbon hung up around the exhaust port on the muffler... You should be able to pull the spark arrestor out and see what's going on...

I took the muffler off and cleaned the screen , should be good on that end.
Tried it again this morning it will only idle on choke. Almost ready to try the hammer method !!!

If I use a weed eater for 5 years thats a win for me. If you do replace it buy from your local dealer. When I bought my ECHO 2 years ago the dealership gave me a 5 year warranty on everything!!!!! So I paid right under $200 for a weed eater thats going to last me at least 5 years. I also bought a toro push mower from them and it came with a 5 year warranty on everything and a 10 year warranty on anything the oil touches.
I bought all my stuff at The Power Shop on St. Charles ST in Houma.

jldsc 02-15-2012 08:23 AM

idle air mixture adjustment maybe??? have you tried adjusting the idle needle

ragincajun 02-15-2012 08:28 AM

Take a look at a Shindaiwa my Dad has had the same one since I was old enough to pick that thing up and I'm 31. I bought one a couple years ago for myself and I started it for the first time in 3 months the other day and it started with 2 cranks. That thing has some power, its expensive but well worth the money.

I'm a big fan of the Hitachi weedeater, has 7 year warranty too.

I won't knock any brand but remeber the warranty is only as good as the abilty to have it serviced, best bet is go to a shop that deals with a good brand and will do the service and repairs.

I would clean the carbarater again. If you put the new carb on and ran it with the old fuel line and filter they probably gunked up your new carb. Ethanol gas is some bad stuff.
