specknation and i fished the causeway for a few hours today. ended up with 20 nice trout. every boat we saw was trollin traps, we may have been the only ones jigging. all in all a decent trip.

What side y'all was on? I fished outta bonnebal ... Trolled for a few hours n jigged for about an hour n a half, caught a few ....looks like y'all did a lot better than us

bayouchub 02-21-2012 11:44 PM

we always go out the northshore. stayed inside 8mi whole time. there was a ton of trollers.

fishinpox 02-21-2012 11:50 PM

I only saw 3-4 other boats on the southshore. We had a few doubles trolling n lost a few cuz my fiancé kept reeling them in to fast while the boat was in gear n tearing the mouths. The first 5 min a rod bowed up stripping drag, thought we had a hammer trout on.... Friggin 15-20 lb freshwater catfish ....the SOB barrel rolled into 3 other lines by the time we got it to the boat it had 1 stick bait in its mouth about 15 wraps of power pro around it, a trap in it belly, and a rapala crank bait in its back lmao .....I was pissed!

Nice job, thanks for the report.

Wow. We got to mandeville harbor at like 945 and there was hardly any place to park. Is it a lot closer from br to go to bonnabel?

I think it's 15 min faster , but now with the road construction on I-12 I think it is more like 25 min faster , way better launch, 3 ramps, good parking but in the early summer its a friggin joke watching / waiting to launch and put the boat back on the trailer...very comical . I've always preferred the south end because it's less pressure . I didn't have to move for anyone today , we started at about 2 miles n ended around 12 mile or so when I was leaving I saw a boat land a friggin hog...had to be an 8 it was fat and long not your usual "football"

They just repaved the road to the madisonville launch. Thats where we usually go, its never that crowded.
