Rear main seal

Anyone had to replace their rear main seal in their 99-06 GMC or Chevy 5.3 yet? I need to replace mine but I'm wondering if I have to pull the engine or if I can just drop the transmission and do it that way to save all kinds of headache. Getting tired of seeing oil spots on the driveway and having to put more in each month.

Head over to the guys at Mr. Fixits again. They can handle it for ya and will probably be cheaper in the long run...I know it usually is for me anyway!

If you only adding oil once a month run it. Just pull the dipstick when you tank up with fuel.

I thought about that but after seeing what some other people spent, I'd rather do it with my dad supervising. Other guys on another site say it could be the block off cover for the oil cooler lines or a bad oil pan gasket. Won't know for sure until I pull the inspection plate off tomorrow of the bell housing and look and see if the seal is for sure leaking.
