Ever notice

I was sitting on the back porch at the camp last night drinking a few beers and noticed a fire fly in the swamp and got to thinking that I have not seen fireflys in years. When we were kids they were every where. Whatever happened to them?

Also anyone else notice that you don’t see much Spanish moss anymore?

Fireflys still around my place but like you say, not like they used to be. Actually noticed some sp moss in my oak in front yard yesterday. Don't think Its ever had it before.

Hate to sound like a treehugger, BUT unfortunately the mosquito spray kills em. I haven't seen any around a city in a long time. Not against spraying but we may be creating a super strain of skeeters that will be resistant to pesticide. Also, mosquitoes and many of the bugs that are killed are pollinators, doesn't seem that big a deal but when insect pollinated plants have no insects to pollinate then..:( Mosquitoes are the base of many food chains from fish to birds

We usually see a few fire flys here in the yard each summer..... not many. Sometimes we will see several just as it is getting dark.

The lack of Spanish moss I beleive is mostly due to polution in the air. Get out in the country away from any plants and you will see some Spanish moss.
