Dularge Trout Fishing

3/19/12--I had the pleasure of fishing with Glen Bush, his wife Jean and their daughter Morgan from MS. On the second boat Capt Gerald Ellender fished with Marion Eister & crew from Nebraska. Our plan was to fish the open water reefs where we had been whacking the fish all week. We never got the chance as the wind was a steady 15 at daybreak and got stronger each hour. We fished 4-5 different areas looking to get out the wind. We found some protected shorelines with schools of mullet and found some really nice reds and trout. Broke out a red/white topwater lure and busted some nice 3 and 4 lb trout but missed more fish than we caught. Just don't know how a fish can smack a lure so hard and miss getting hooked by 3 sets of treble hooks. We caught roughly 40 trout, 7 reds and a couple flounder but most were caught on purple haze swimbaits under the mullets. Both groups had a great time doing the DU! We cancelled Tues and Wed trips but will resume our fishing tomorrow. Good luck fishing.
