Found Barataria Bay depth map (with link)

The link above is a depth map of Barataria Bay and the nearby GoM.

Do you have a date of that map??
Has to be pretty old . been fishing that area for many years and i see things on the map that i don't remember.

The original source is from the 1950s but it has received some updates as recently as 2010. It's hard to know how many of the post-Katrina changes are included. The map on the adjacent area (Terrebone Bay) does show many of the bigger changes such as the reduction of E. Timbalier island, but it's hard to know which details are updated and which information is older. See:

I use those a lot, but for different reasons. I have 2
of those that I bought to hang on my brother in laws
camp wall in Grand Isle.
However, they are not always right with the depths.
Sometimes they are 2 ft off. And that's a lot when
the depths are showing 4 ft.

You can somewhat trust the offshore depths, but
not inshore. NOAA research boats check depths
offshore every few years to update charts, but
they don't check inshore.

They use NOAA info also. You can be running across a lake and it will sometimes show you running over an island. Inland does not get updated as much as offshore.
And inland, you need to take the winds and tides in consideration also. I know this for
a fact. The charts cannot compensate for fluctuations in water levels.

I have a older LMS on the boat now and run across Islands all the time

I have Mapsource on my lap top. You can update it any time you want.
No matter what or when, they still show the old islands at the mouth of
Turners Bay, that have been washed away for almost 20 years.
Same with Barataria and Terrebone Bays. Still shows land that is no longer
there.

If you do use them for inshore, be sure to stay clear of where they show
land. It might still be there, just a few inches under the water.
