Very First Post is a Vent...In a good way
Had just enough bait to set my trotline and one noodle jug. Found the noodle this morning with the largest flathead I have ever handled (25-30lbs). Got off trying to get him in the boat:pissed:.......Did get six good channels off the trotline though.
Vernon Lake BTW |
well at least now you have a big one that got away story... welcome to the cajun
|
Stay after them....we welcome the report.
|
Stay after them suckers man nothing like some good ole fried flathead. Thanks for the report and welcome to sc!
|
welcome to SC. I fish vernon also. They got catfish in there that makes 25-30lbs look like minnows. PM me if you need help.
|
Sounds like you need more jugs... That's some fun fishing. I'm going to take my kids jugging for the first time this summer. Maybe we will get lucky...

Gaff and gloves
Get yourself a Short handle gaff and some gloves. I recently lost a 50lb Blue on a jug because I was unprepared for such a large fish. It broke the hook while wrastling with him at the boat. If you fish jugs with live bait you will catch some big fish.
|
Welcome. At least you caught a few. Losing the big one will keep you going back for more.
|
Welcome to SC.
Fish noodles at Toledo. Very fun. |
Welcome to SC, I use a large net, very large, at Toledo Bend. Big enough to put a 90 lb cat in. Never lost a fish using it. Net the fish, then pull that sucker in the boat using the net.

Thanks guys. Definitely going to get a net. It was bad enough losing one that big but it made it worse since it was the only one I had out.
