Grand isle 4-14-12

Boy was it windy!!!!!! Got out at daybreak, and the birds were in the bay working hard!! I mean like really hard. There were at least 5-7 groups of birds within sight at any given time for about an hour to an hour and a half. Caught a bunch but they were small school trout. Too small to keep. Only got one that was big enough to keep. But it was definitely good to find out that the specks are moving out quick. I fished a little top water, caught all my fish under a cork with a shrimp on. But I don't think they would have been picky when in the schools. Let me know if anyone else did any good in grand isle last weekend.

Never fished grand isle. By the bay you mean the bay right out of bridge side?

jjenk321 04-18-2012 04:26 PM

Bgizzle, I mean leave bridge side take a right under the bridge and the body of water you are in. All around.

Guys I will be down there again last weekend of April. I will let y'all know how I did then as well. May try the beaches to see what I can find there. See how far out they actually are. You think it's too early for that?

Not at all, if the water isn't too dirty go for it. The trout should be showing up soon if they aren't there already

Earliest I've caught trout in the surf in GI was 2nd to last week in April. Caught most on a She Pup if I recall and others on live shrimp. If conditions are good you should be able to get a few.

Both of our Lil bro's may be thinking about making a trip down there soon I'm sure. That's a good place to start.

eman 04-19-2012 07:12 PM

Behind the island. (bayside) The trout move up in that area before they move outside HINT HINT!
