I have a friend of mine from Houston that stays there when we go fishing. He loves it....only place he stays now. And a lot of his reasoning is it is far enough north where the mosquitos won't carry you off if you want to sit outside for the evening and it is a nice facility, security cameras, close to a nice selection of restaurants, etc....

There used to be a RV park at the jetties in Cameron. Never been camping there and I do not know if it ever reopened since the hurricanes. If it has though, it would be a short ride to the south end of the lake.
