Calcasieu river conditions?

Plan on trying to fish the Calcasieu this weekend. Wanted to see how the conditons have been and if anyone is catching anything? I know last time I went the water was up and muddy at White Oak south. Taking the boy with me so I need to catch something or he will get bored fast and the day is ruined!!! Thanks in advance! :help:

If it were me i would prolly go to westfork. or way north of white oak. put in last sunday in mossbluff and water was really muddy. 2 boats, caught 1 about 2.5lbs and 3 other pickles.

The water at the Moss Bluff boat launch is not too bad..... you can see 6 to 10" down. The water is still stained a fairly brown color and the river is up about a foot..... but that could be mostly due to the south wind.

I fished west fork today and didn't even get one bite.
Two years ago I called Louisiana wildlife and ask why they did not stock the cal as they do other places in the state he told me that sense the water quality was so bad it was pointless to do it. It's so bad that you can't even catch bream anymore something has to change.

Last trip out of White Oak I caught several, no monsters, all on creature baits... Have not caught great numbers or any "big-uns" since Feburary/Mar or whenever we had all the big rain ...

Its a fickle river, but there are fish in there :D

Good luck !
