Went and hit fourchon this morning. We did ok. Got on a fast and furious bite for a lil while. but weather shut us down. Ended the day with 19 specks, 3 big reds, and a black drum. Started in Timbalier and ended at the jetties.

also caught 5 crabs:D

My fav place in the world to fish is to launch at the public launch and head over out of belle pass and then turn east towards Grand Isle working the beach all the way over to Elmers. When I lived in Baton Rouge I was there just about the entire summer.

Nice job and thanks for the report.

Help me out. Do you mean east toward Grand Isle?

West out of Belle Pass is toward E. Timbalier, or am I turned around?

Me too. That area is my favorite. I'm heading there memorial day week. :D

You are correct. Grand Isle is east (actually northeast) of Port Fourchon. If you turn right out of Belle Pass into Bay Marchand.....you are headed west toward E. Timbalier.

Lol no you are right, I need to slow down and pay attention to what I am typing. I have made the trip west to timb several times and done well but I prefer heading east on the beach.

Me too Casey! When I had my camp there, and was off for the summer, I spent many a day fishing the beach.

I can remember driving on the beach when I was younger from Fourchon to Elmer's Island so we didn't have to pay to get into Elmer's. If I had a dollar for all the fish that we caught, I'd be rich for sure. All you needed was a topwater Mirrolure, some speck rigs, a Mr. Champ and sparkle beetles. Maybe bring some bait shrimp to hit the marsh behind the beach for a red or two if the surf was too rough. Man I miss that!!

Yes sir, great times. Ending the day with a burger from Bridgeside or Sand Dollar on the other side was not a bad thing either.

E. Timbalier

Headed to G.I. mid June and I'd love to launch out of Fouchon and hit E. Tiimbalier, but I've heard that the rocks will tear your boat/motor up. Is there any info regarding how to fish this area safely? I've heard that W. Timbalier is okay, but to stay away from E. Timbalier.

E. Timbalier can be tricky, and definitely calls for a calm day and careful attention to all the details. Lots of obstacles.

All the fish we caught last weekend was on sparkle beetles, top water, and a Mr. Champ

duckfreak 05-12-2012 02:20 PM

Didn't know they still made Mr Champs, where y'all find them at?
