Question for u holly beach surf guys
 

Been hitting the surf in GI since i was old enough to drive... My father was strict but that was one thing he always let me do...haul *** with some buddies and go camp on the beach in GI for the weekend... We would always wait for light south winds for a few days to hit the surf (preferably SW), and I have been following that protocol ever since. Rarely has it failed me, as the light south winds push clean gulf water to the beach. My question is why do the guys here that post on fishing the Holly beach area like a north wind? Obviously this makes for lighter surf, but is there any other reason? Kinda curious as I will be moving to the LC area in a couple months, and although I do most of my fishing out of a boat, there is something to be said about standing waist deep in the gulf, toes in the sand, watching the sun come up, and having trout blow up on a topwater! So I definitely plan on fishing the surf out there in the future. BTW, heading to GI tom or Thurs, and leaving the boat behind (going against my protocol with recent light N winds, lol). The Gulf is shallow over here and has a tendency to be muddy. Especially on the beach with S winds. A couple of days of N or little wind, has the beach with clean water. South winds, it is chocolate.

Ok I was always taught if a N wind is blowing you want to fish a bank where the N wind is blowing over and where it is blowing into so if you would fish the S bank of the lake with a N wind the wind would blow the waves against the bank but on da beach on a N wind the beach/land mass serves as a wind breaker and calms the water and then the water cleans up. Now personally I think winds also blows bait into banks as well and I prove my theory at times as well by fishing a bank that the wind is blowing into

A really light south west wind is still the best. Has to be really light, because as mentioned above there is a lot of mud. A north wind will push the water out. You can wade further out, while letting the mud settle. The best day I have ever had out there were durring the dog days of summer. Good currents with light wind. Of course thats also when the sharks come in to have their young. July and August can be real fun.

Then again GI is different than holly an a way that it's set in a different direction
