Frogging light

I haven't been frogging since I was a kid but plan on going next week. Anyone have suggestions on a good light that won't cost an arm and a leg? Thanks

Man it's hard to get something good for cheap. I use a seal beam headlamp from prodrive. It's real bright and durable and keeps your hands free. I think it was around 70 bucks

You on foot or in a boat?

dennissonnier 06-09-2012 09:00 PM

Mostly in my boat.

I made mine for the boat. Old hard hat and a sealed beam halogen lamp, a swirch, cord and tm battery. Done deal for under $50. Got another led lamp for when I'm walking. Can't remember how many lumen it is but, was only like $30-35 at Cabelas. It doesn't do as well in the faster pace of the boat though.

For hunting I use a "6 LED Headlight" that shins a spot light good. Don't know why it wouldn't work for froggin. I use one set of batteries all hunting season and I have had the light for ~ 3 years now.

It is made by Energizer...Trailfinder series. Sells for ~ $ 15 at Walmart. It takes 3 AAA batteries and says it is good for 50 hours.

Aucions Hardware in Morgan City has the hard hat lights with a few different options for the bulbs. Between $70-90 depending on which bulb u choose.

From prodrives shop in loureauville. You could probably call and have them ship you one though if you aren't in the area

Mr. Evan 06-10-2012 11:21 PM

dennissonnier 06-11-2012 05:15 AM

That seems pretty good. Think I'll go ahead and order one. Thanks

Mr. Evan 06-11-2012 02:24 PM

make sure you get the package

with the batteries and charger if you go with ebay.

I go frogging A LOT! A spotlight with a tight beam wired or plugged into a seperate battery works the best for me. I mostly fish out of a crawfish boat or 4- wheeler.
