What is the best all around fishing rod for specs reds and flounders under $100?

StickEm rods at The Tackle Box in Sulphur or Shimano rods at Lake Charles Tackle.

Falcon Bucoo

LifeTyme007 06-15-2012 03:06 PM

What about the falcon coastal (medium popper) rods? Does anyone have one and what are the pros and cons? Thanks!

I was at Academy this week and swore I saw some All Star Rods for $49, going back this evening to see for sure

ElectricChicken 06-15-2012 03:34 PM

I bought a CCA rod at Academy. 6'9" one of the best rods I have ever fished with for specks and reds. It has some kind of motto that goes with the rod. Somethig like see red, think blue. $49.99 The rod is black with a bunch of guides.

IMO, since being bought out by berkley the All Star rods are junk..... Terrible warranty on them too..... That "lifetime" warranty is BS...

Aha, I wasn't aware of that. I had 2 a long time ago that the tip broke off all the time and would just have to pay shipping to get a new one. Thanks for that info, I may avoid that and spend that $50 on something else:)

I got a Daiwa AIRD a couple of months ago and really liked it. It felt like a BuCoo but cost $50. It's at the bottom of West Cove if anybody wants to try it.

Stick ems are hard to beat. Good rod, and easy for the pocket book

Top Dawg 06-15-2012 07:39 PM

Shimano Claris. Lifetime over the counter warranty.

I've got one 7' med. it's been catching for about 12yrs now.

PUREBAY2200 06-15-2012 08:00 PM

Falcon bucoo is nice I got 2. A medium and a heavy.

The falcon costal is also nice; but I've seen em priced above 100$.
On sale @ academy 79-89$ sometimes.
I have a 6-6 light action and a 7-6 spinning medium action for poppin corks. I can launch a bait with that rod! Caught dink trout and 30 lb reds. It's a good rod.

I'd like to try a stick em..... But ain't been over to the west side lately to look at one.

trophytroutman 06-15-2012 08:17 PM

Stick 'em

Have a few Bucoo's nice rods. My wife fishes with one and caught a 60# Drum on it. Tough rods.
