Big Problems
I to like many of yall on this site go away for weekends to do some fishing with the family. Well this past weekend was a little different. Apparently a bad storm came through on Friday while i was at the pt and my house was struck by lightning. It jumped down into my hot water heater and then into my washing machine. Causing a valve to stay open inside my washer. So my washer kept filling up and overflowing till sunday when I returned. Flooded half of my house. Service master came in and pulled carpet that was in the bedroom and now has 8 fans and 4 humidifiers running 24 hrs a day to dry the sheet rock. Several of the walls are starting to dry but a few corners are still wet. If they dont start drying then I will have to start ripping sheetrock out. They said it could take 4-7 days of drying before we know something. The lightning also fried my AC, Cable boxs, hot water heater, Baby monitor, Modems, and all GFI outlets.
A little advice....May want to think about turning off your water when leaving town for a few days. Also...Service Master crew are a great group. They were at my house within an hour of me calling and have been back a couple of times a day to check on things. |

Hate hearing that. But it might also be good that you and your family wasn't home. May have ended up with serious injuries. Hope things dry out for you.

Sorry to hear it but at least you and the family are okay
|

wow hope everyting turns out okay...sucks.

Not the same scenario, but you are the 4th person I know that has had a home flooded by a washing machine issue. Wow, that sucks. Good luck with the repairs and thank God for insurance!

The hoses [hot and cold] on a washing machine stay pressureized all the time. The hoses have an average life of 5 to 10 years. I had a 5 or 6 years old hose bust [cold water] during the night and woke up to the kitchen area having 3/4" of water. The water was starting to soak into the Den carpet. Changing a $ 10 hose is good insurance and peace of mind. |
