HHenry1 08-07-2012 07:08 AM

If you are referring to the launch south of Erath at the end of the gravel road, i took a ride out there about a month ago to check it out and it appeared open. never launched or fished from there, any decent fishing in those canals?
It appears to be the quickest way to get to the Chene (Jean-Marie cut)

no it is closed the oil man & his wife both died after the hurricane

HHenry1 08-07-2012 08:36 AM

I think your talking about Hilcorp, That area is definately closed, I used to fish reds out there in the marsh when I had permission to dock, but since Mr. Rodney passed away they gated off the whole Hilcorp Oilfield area. Jean Maries might be a different story though.

Hebert's landing is open.

whitekat 08-08-2012 06:16 AM

figured the landing would close after the old man would die.

i used to fish out of his landing....he would collect his 5 bucks himself.

it was a few months after the hurricane , the last time i seen him, and used his launch.

he told me,...... him and the wife tried to ride it out.

rescue had to come get them.. me and momma had to be taken out of

this tree....he was prob in his late 70, said momma was big to get up in

the tree, he had to push her up.

i planted this tree 30 years ago.
he had his hand on it. made me want to cry. rip old man

I had been going there since i was a kid. He passed away in August of '08 we put in the morning he passed. From what i was told is that his kids did not want the hassle of maintaining it.

Yeap, his son had opened it back up for a short time, then siblings got involved and it has been shut down since, it's really ashame to see that piece of property going to waste, his house just sitting there, everything over grown with grass and weeds. Terrible!!!

I have property that is back there. We had a camp there til Rita floated it off and dumped it in the bayou on the other side of our property. When you get on the gravel road off the curve my property is down the gravel road to the left right before the curve.

Hahaha yea I've been there a time or twenty.....I mean.... I've heard of people going there....lol

Lol do you know if they have been catching lately? I know they locked off the main gate to get back there by truck, we cant even get back there. We usually just ask around to see if the crabs are running, someone usually knows if they are.

I actually haven't been back there in a long time. Probably almost a year.
