White Lake

What can anyone tell me about White Lake, is it worth a trip? My son keeps after me to fish it. I have never been to it, but understand you can access it from Hebert's Landing!

Closer to leave from Lake Arthur.

You can get to White Lake from Heberts but would be a long run. Leave from Lake Arthur or Little Prarie Bridge near Forked Island would be a lot closer. White Lake is just north of Pecan Island

How is it closer to leave from Lake Arthur??? Heberts is 3.5 miles from White Lake

The catfishing is pretty good there. Never been but know of someone who smokes the catfish out there

My dad works in white lake and they have been smoking the catfish. His platform is on the north west corner of the lake near the mouth of the old intracoastal.

Years ago when I loved in New Iberia we would put crab traps in White Lake. Used to catch some huge crabs. Dont know it they still have them or not.

I haven't fished there in a while, but we've always done decent. You can usually catch a limit of reds on the south end by the rocks.

We also fish the north end from the large point working our way back. Shrimp on a cork, spinners, and spoons are all a good. Be careful on the north end, because it gets shallow quick. We usually stay about 50-60 yards off the bank and cast in all directions. You can put a hurting on the catfish doing this with shrimp.

Hope this helps. Good Luck!
