Best $100 Bait caster?

I have a friend who wants to purchase a reel for her husband for their anniversary and wanted to keep the cost around $100-$150. I love my citica and curado E series but haven't heard that many great things about the new G series. I have heard a lot of good things about Lew's reels but never tried one myself. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Paul.

I see your from Rayne, get with Anthony (rigratnomeaux) and he can hook you up with a lews in that price range. They are great reels.

X2. I own 10 of them. They go on sale twice a year for $25 along with the all star rods, i always stock up. Best part is when something goes wrong take it back and exchange for new over the counter. Great reel for the price. I still like my shimano but hard to beat the price and warranty of the Mettle reels. All i use at the beach.

I've heard nothing but good about those reels. I plan on scooping up a few of them when they go back on sale.

What type of warranty? How long do they swap it out for?

cduhon 09-26-2012 07:56 AM

Not sure the length but i have swapped several out. Oldest being over 2 years. Never a receipt. I always keep the boxes. Its cheaper to swap them out them to clean my other reels.

Damn that's wassup

Open up the cover breaks same style as a Mano. Slap the boca bearing in from my Curado. Got a good reel that has lifetime warranty. Can't beat it. Now it's not as smooth as the Curado

I own 4 mettles and 2 lews! For the price the mettle cant be beat! But the lews speed spool tournament series casts for miles! And is so smooth and its got a very small profile!

X2 on Lews. You can cast them a mile and they hold up great. If you ever look more expensive check out the mew calcutta. Its my favorite reel right now

Isn't the Calcutta a round reel? Not sure I could use a round reel after using low profile for so long.

Yea but its pretty much low profile. I thought the same thing but its really nice. Ask ole SaltERedneck - he said the same thing we did. Gonna be a bad arse reel for cranking deep in the Bend this winter too - i like the ratio - let me see if i can take you a pic so you can see how small it is - but it still has the 200 size spool

Last couple of years it has been black friday and week before Christmas. Black friday is always crazy but they stay on sale for a week.
