Favorite Card Game
What's your favorite and most played card game at the deer/duck/fish camp?
We use to always play Pedro in the area I grew up in, to me that's the funnest card game there is. Then Texas Holdem started showing up on TV and everybody wanted to play that and now no one plays Pedro anymore. Kinda pisses me off. So my favorite is Pedro. Most played I guess would be Poker.....now but not 10 years ago. What says the SaltyCajun Crew? |

Pedro is played with 4 players with 2 being partners. You bid how many many points you and you partner can make. A-J-10-5-5if the same color an -2 are the point cards 5s are worth 5 all the rest are worth 1 first one to make 62 wins. It's more involved than that but that's the basics

I think Pedro is a Terrebonne / Lafourche Parish game. I grew up playing it because my dad is from Houma. I love it but can't find anyone else who plays around here. I have taken to Euchre, because many people in Vermilion Parish play. I still prefer Pedro though. Both can be played for points and bragging rights instead of money like the rest of the games mentioned here. I do play poker and bourre' too.

Ours is a 50/50 split between pedro and bourray.

I prefer Bourray, and Pedro. Learned Bouray from my Dad and learned Pedro at Nicholls State. Missed a many classes playing pedro in the Student Union.
|
We also get down with some Booray! That's what you okay when you waiting on winners for the pedro table.
Leblanc I skipped out of HS a few times and work to go play Pedro in the union. |
I still enjoy playing Spades with a partner... fun game
