Tuna in South Marsh Island??

Guys i am working out here in south marsh island 146, i was wondering if anyone knew if there could be any Tuna out here. We are in about 230 ft of Blue water, but i wouldve thought we were in too shallow of water to have tuna. At night when I go outside I see schools of fish that look like exactly like tuna, and i watch em chase the flying fish. I just didnt think they were out here.

Might be Bonito.
How big are they? That is pretty shallow for Tuna.

bay_slayer 10-08-2009 02:56 PM

the ones that I am seeing are about 36" average

Bonita are in the Tuna family. Them big Bonita, but that is prolly what it is.
I have worked in 300 ft. of water, 105 miles South of Cameron and never seen
good eating Tuna out there.

usually you go to 500' of water for tuna but this time of the year they can be in the 300 range
