SUV/trailer hitch question?

For those who pull a trailer with an SUV. Is there any thing you use to deaden the noise you get on the inside the vehicle from the hitch moving around when pulling at boat/trailer? Going on a 10hr trip and I can't deal with that noise for 10 hrs!!!

I saw a while back, u could buy the hitch with that little piece on it to make it fit tight but I don't see it anymore!

Thanks

Try wrapping enough electrical tape around tubing to make it fit tighter in receiver...

You talking about some slack in the male / female tubing for your receiver hitch? I welded some small one inch long welds on the top and side of the male tube. Using a grinder, grind off a little on the height of the weld, try to slide it in, grind a little more, and try. Takes a few trys, but you end up with a good fit and you don't hear that bumping knocking sound anymore.

Load heavier on front of trailer to help with trailer bouncing in hitch and maybe rap safety chains in old water hose ..... you are gonna have some noise no matter what you do since there's a lot of metal on metal and your chains rattling

X2 on loading heavier on the front of the trailer. I also use the heavy rubber electrical tape on the top and bottom of the receiver.

If there is that much banging I would make sure the ball and coupler are the same size. Only banging around I ever hear is the slack in the brakes when stopping or taking off.
