Manatee Found Dead in Chauvin
 

There's a Manatee floating dead in Bayou Little Caillou. Supposedly it was shot. Wildlife and Fisheries is sending it to Florida so an autopsy can be performed. If it really was shot that's pretty pathetic, these things have a rough enough time surviving.

They come here pretty often. About 10-12 years ago they had one in Bayou Lafourche, 2 or 3 years ago they had 5 in Lake Boudreaux.

Why people gotta do that stupid crap? Its like last year hunting season I found 5 dead donkeys dead on our goose lease all shot in the neck.

That's just like the whooping cranes they found shot. People shoot just to kill these animals for no reason. It's really a shame.

Someone shot a black bear in SE Louisiana the other day.

this is what i mean for what just to shoot it. My 11yr old shot a killdee with his bb gun at his moms house last year and i chewed his *** out up one side and down the other. If he would of done that at my house i would have made him clean it and eat it, cause i've raised him to be a better sportsman than that and respect mother nature.

Not to say this is any worse than any of the others posted here, but this right here is why there won't ever be a limit on bears in Louisiana. You have to have 2 viable subpopulations, and the one in SE LA is never going to be viable because people are constantly shooting them.

It's a shame what people do these days, and most of the time in the name of "sport", or because they don't like them.

What's the point in shooting a manatee anyway? Not like its a pest. Must have taken their hunting spot.

Same folks that are shooting the dolphins? Boy this ain't gonna be good if it keeps happening and WHEN it gains more traction with PETA and the national news.
