Dixie mud motors

Anybody got any experience with these? Like the fact that they have an aluminum frame and they are priced right.

First time I have heard of them. How long have they been around. Look kinda home built to me.

$4,000 for a 35 HP vanguard with power trim and electric clutch. No reverse yet, but they are working on it. He said when they do come out with it you will be able to retrofit old models with it.

Long thread about them from MMT. Didn't read it, I'm sure you'll have to filter through some BS but hopefully some good info

I have worked on may of them except for the Dixie and copper head. Briggs are Briggs just depends what drive is behind it. All of them have their flaws and pros. Loved working on the Briggs though. Very easy to tear apart and make a bad arse motor. Heads and carb make them run well. Very easy to get power out of, just takes green. I do not hunt but love getting in the skinny. Also like the speed. I would want fast and reverse. Ran without reverse but it would be nice.

Exactly. That's why I wanted to see if anybody on here had any first hand experience with them.

I just bought a PD last month and I was looking at the Dixie's and Copperheads for that matter mainly bc of the price, 1st reason I decided against was reverse, kind of like 4x4 on a truck...you may only need it 3 times a year, but when you need it, you've got it. The second was those lower units can take some beatings and harsh stuff; I just felt more comfortable with proven product.
