Inflatable PFD

For those of you with the inflatable PFD's, which do you recommend? Do they inflate when wet from spray/rain or just when submersed in the water?

Thanks

There are 3 different kinds. Manual, auto inflate, and hydrostatic release auto

Manual you have pull cord
Auto cheap has a pill like paper that gets wet, even real moist will inflate
Hydrostatic has to be submerged

I use 1 in the kayak as I am in usually shallow water and #3 if offshore or deep water

Manual is good unless you get knocked out before you pull it...

Thanks for the replies. I looked at them at Academy and  when I saw the $239 price they wanted for the hydrostatic one. I will have to save some pennies before getting one now.

Yeah, but it still hurts to have to dish out that kind of cash.
