Rockafeller

Thinking of going to Rochafeller this week. Anyone know if all the freshwater is out of there yet? Any crabs and reds action? Thanks.

Stopped by Josephs harbor Saturday and turned in to check out the new boat landing. Talked to a couple guys that were putting boat on trailer and talked to them. They said no fish, no crabs, and no shrimp. But the boat landings look great.

The water is super fresh they have the east end locks wide open pouring in straight fresh water.

Wow, when did you see this? Sounds the same as it was 2 weeks ago.

i agree with montaulk cux we sure had alot alot of rain all over louisana a few weeks ago and it doesnt go away over night if that how much rain fell all over in louisana it takes a good while for the water from a good way up in mid louisana to come draining down to southern part of louisana to be flushed out into the gulf so if i was you i wud wait a few more weeks to be going in rockafella area. try big lake if its not too far out of ur way.

All that water that flooded lake arthur goes into grand lake and eventually drains into the mermentau river and superior canal. The superior canal is part of the east side of rockefeller that is controlled by locks and weirs. They had the east end locks wide open pouring straight freshwater into the salt side of the refuge. It will be a while before it gets right again. Unless you plan on going to the gulf I would not go there.

OK thanks for the info guys. Looks like I'll hold back a while for Rockafeller, or maybe try for some blue cats in the Mermentau. I'm assuming the catfish locks are still open?
