I need some ideas for the main website...
 

I'm trying to decide what to do on the main website (http://www.saltycajun.com) aside from just having a bunch of links. I'm thinking about maybe having some rotating articles, etc. If you have a fishing/outdoors website you think is really set up nicely, post up the link.

Also, feel free to post random ideas of what you'd like to see on the main page. In other words, what would attract your attention if you only gave the site a 10 second glance?

Maybe latest things having to do with news about hunting and fishing like articles on the latest CCA bulletins or something along those lines.

why dont you have a weekey or bi-weekly "best of" fishing report on the homepage , like giving potential new members a taste of the cajun . you pick which you feel was the best , most imforative report with pics and make it the cover . i think it will also incourage people to post more hunting/ fishing reports as well.

shadman, I agree, when you come upon the page its kinda boring with just a box of options an intro paragraph. I think it could use a nice backdrop scene,maybe a good sunset or sunrise out over the water. something in common with our area. You could also have something streaming too, that would catch attention. Maybe even pics of peoples catches for the month. Or even split the homepage in half with a backdrop of fishing and the other side with hunting scene. Just a thought.

I think Coe does a good job with the front page there. He picks a member posted photo each week to feature. Take a look.

you could even change the backdrop image every 3 months for all the different seasons...have a voting forum where members submit photos for the background and everyone votes for it...

How about pics of whatever season is open?Ducks,deer,turkeys,fishin,etc.You could have a background of the marsh or whatever and then a picture of the week of members and thier catch.I think a galleries section would be cool also but it should be easy to view.

Shad....I think all these guys and Gals above have good ideas...... I think the Member of the week would be great Idea......run it from Mno-SUn...Best Pic and story of the week gets noticed on the Home page?? Give our members something to push for...maybe a little something also to throw in

I think more sponsors would definately be cool. You know like Doug's hunting lodge, Cherry ridge, some ATV outfits. Would definately be a boost.
