Stethescope... any Dr's or nurses out there???

This may not be for this forum but i know we got some Drs and nurses around here. Looking for stethescope....Anyone have a preferred company and product? I dont want to break the bank on this one... Need something very clear, reliable, and durable. I will be using this in my practice sooo REAL experience would be appreciated. ;) or if you fellas have a wife who swears by a brand let me know.

Looking at the Littmann and Welch Allyn. BELL and DIAPHRAGM needed.

Starting clinicals in august and need to get something soon. Take into consideration that i may be the one seeing you one day... lol. so any help would be appreciated. Just got lucky and found an old otoscope thats been laying in my office for over 3 yrs. completely forgot about it. saved me 200$.

Dr. Jay..... what are your thoughts??

Littman cardiology iii runs about $150. It's amazing how much more you can hear with that compared to cheaper ones

jchief 02-28-2013 08:57 PM

Her's is a cardiology 2 and she really likes it

Littman is the only way to go!!! Still have mine somewhere if you want to buy some new ear pieces and try it out. I carry a cheap-o-depot in my jump bag since I am usually first to arrive and have my equipment raped, that way it doesn't go home with some VFD guy......hint,hint!

Littman

Littman...I am not in medical field, but own horses. We used the Littmans to check heart rate and hear digestive noises (mostly concerning colic). We have the scopes in "rough" enviroments and all still function great after many years of service. A couple of high school buddies of mine are medical doctors and they all recommended this brand to me when I asked them for advice.

Dont think they have quite the prescriptive authority... could be wrong. Dont know too many of them here to have ever really answered that question. Could also be scope of practice. I dont know the cans and cants of their practice.

OK I was def wrong... prescriptive authority same. Scope of practice different from state to state. PA's driven by physicians... NPs can practice alone in some states. Schooling way different.

I have the littman master cardiology black edition. but if I had to do it over, Id get the cardiology III. I seem to hear a little better with that one.

SaltERedneck 03-01-2013 09:23 AM
