What home alarm company are u with?
 

Im looking for another alarm company for my home. What company are you guys with and how is the service and equipment?

Safegaurd, they out of Houma. Every time we set the alarm off cops are at my house within 3-5 minutes. My wife blew a candle out once and it tripped the smoke alarm. Well whenever the smoke alarm goes off the FD has to come out, just so happened that day the local VFD was having there Spaghetti Dinner/Parade/Family Day. My wife felt like crap when the FD showed up at out house with there dress uniforms on.

I have ADT. It isn't that expensive and you don't need a home phone anymore. It uses a mini cellphone signal.

If you live in Lafayette give intec a call its a company that's building a good rep.

How much does it typically cost for an install and monthly?

I was paying $26 a month

I unplugged the alarm and its been 3 -4 months now. They Never called about a problem!

I use Sylvan Systems. I promise they do the best work in Lake Charles. I may be alittle bias though since I own the company as well. PM me and I'll be glad to recommend a Lafayette company.
Monitoring rates depend on the type monitoring being done. We use Phone or phone with wireless backup. doing both or just wireless gives you the best security. don't do just phone line. ADT and the other nationwide companies will be alittle cheaper up front but the monitoring rates and service rates will kill you later.

When you unplugged the system it of course can't send a signal. Typically it would show on the companies monthly report as not testing.

Acadiana Security!! Within a minute of setting off the alarm they have you on the phone. If you don't answer the home phone they will get you on your cell. We have ADT at work and I've set the alarm off a few times and I've waited ten minutes before I would call ten and tell them I have set it off by accident. If you decide to go with them PM me so I can get my free month of monitoring. :lol:

Acadian Ambulance is who does our monitoring. We pay $20 a month for it. If i were to "unplug" my system it would beep every few seconds till the battery runs out. About 2-3 days. My intial install was about $400 but I had it done when it just blacked in. No walls were up yet. Defintiely go with a local company on this though.

Acadian Ambulance(Acadian Onwatch) is who monitors our systems. They monitor must locally owned security companies in louisiana. 1st class.....

Another vote for acadiana security plus. I have 4 kids that set it off occasionally and they call right away. My neighbor is one of the install technicians and they're good people to deal with

I have to give props to Sylvan here in LC, and I would trust his referral. They monitor my house and my business, and I have been very satisfied with their service. Over time, their prices crush ADT.
