Snapper in south west La

This question is pending the decision to extend the state regs out to 10 miles.

Ok I fish out of Cameron (because I have a camp to stay in in Hackberry) but I was just wondering if there are any red snapper to be caught 10 miles out? I havent done much fishing that close to shore, when I go out I usually run as far out as my $ will let me. Anyway just wondering if there is any water deep enough on the west side of the state, or is it just going to benefit the Venice boys? I know I have caught them 20 miles out but that's as close as I have tried, and the ones there generally are a lot smaller than further offshore.

Thanks I pretty much knew they weren't that close, I guess when I get home ill just have to try for some specks. I feel kinda funny speck fishing out of a 30 foot boat but I guess that's how it is.

10.35 miles out of Cameron should place you in about 33-40' of water.. That's plenty deep enough to catch red snaps...
